This is a super simple Filipino dish that does not take many ingredients. Enjoy this with a side of white rice or cauliflower rice if you’re following a keto/low carb diet.

Preparation

  1. Marinate beef in soy sauce, calamansi or lemon juice, and pepper for at least 30 minutes, but not more than an hour.
  2. In a large deep pan on medium high heat, heat oil and cook onions until slightly brown and caramelized. Remove onions from the pan and set aside.
  3. Remove beef from marinade and add to the pan and brown. Reserve marinade for Step 5.
  4. Add garlic and sauté for about a minute with the beef.
  5. Pour over marinade, onions, and water. Bring to boil. Once it reaches a boil, reduce heat to low and cover.
  6. Let simmer for at least 40-50 minutes or until beef is tender.
